Taylor Bennett just dropped the title track from his upcoming project Be Yourself. The track is a piano led production that sees Bennett discuss everything from finding himself, his bisexuality, growing up in Chicago, and being comfortable in your own skin. The rapper told Time that he is trying to make a statement about not letting cultural norms hold you back. He stated further:
“To be black in America, to come from a background where typical masculinity comes first at all costs and being the first to disrupt the norm, is so scary. You know, it’s very, very, very hard to be yourself — but even more difficult to be yourself and still be the most powerful person or version of yourself in a room.”
We love the inclusion and the unity of this song. We love the message and we here at Music and Other Drugs are all about spreading love and this track is just that. Listen to this song to put a smile on your face and to make you feel ok to be yourself. Listen below.
