Music & Other Drugs would like to introduce you to a six-piece band from Chicago, they go by the name Genome. The band, based out of Chicago, uses the historic city as the inspiration for their music. Genome incorporates jazz, rock, electronic, hip hop, and more to create a fusion of sounds. Today, the band released their newest single, “Twelve40 and 2fifty8.” The track is from the forthcoming album, which is set to be released February 26th. The song features Jarad Kleinstein (Drums), Patrick Dinnen (Bass), Igor Voltchenko (Guitar), Asif Wilson (Keys/Synth), Kyle Madsen (Tenor Sax), and Xavier Galdon (Trombone/Production). We at Music & Other Drugs appreciate Genome’s instrumentation, and although the song does not contain vocals, the band uses their instruments to speak loudly on the track. With bands like The Roots, and the rising musician, Kamasi Washington, ears are opening up for artists like Genome. Check out their newest single “Twelve40 and 2fifty8” on their bandcamp.
