Music & Other Drugs wants to introduce the world to new rocker, Opium Denn. Opium Denn describes himself by stating:
“I am Opium Denn!” “I am a composite of you…”
I am the multiple personalities contained within a single person. Masked, symbolic of the overlays, appearance portrayals and production that hide the true essence of each individual. We are all masked…Opium Denn explores and seeks a deeper understanding of what it means to be human in the context of this world we find ourselves…
Last month, Opium Denn released a 9-track concept album, Demarkation. The album is special, it reminds us of the vibes of Pink Floyd, and small elements of Journey. Demarkation brings musicality to the forefront of this album. With the elegant use of the piano in the track “I Am A Feeling 2,” and the sonically appealing guitar rifts throughout the album, the sounds presented throughout the track give us classic 80’s and early 90’s rock. This album is not like one you have ever heard before. Opium Denn describes Demarkation as:
“A 37-minute concept record with 9 sequential videos that tell the story of a life from birth to death…and back again! Engineered with proprietary synapse-altering technologies that create a “letting go” state of mind where the inner world of experience can be explored more freely than would be possible normally…”
Interestingly enough, the science behind the album works. Listening to the album through Beats 2.0 solo-earphones, Music & Other Drugs can feel the “letting go” and buzz sensation through the music. Opium Denn wrote all of the songs on Demarkation, and his vocals are raw and go deep into your soul with his powerful imagery. Demarkation is part one of a three part series. The album was recorded at Sedgwick Studios in North Carolina.
While this isn’t a usual for Music & Other Drugs, we can appreciate Opium Denn’s innovativeness with this record. He has tapped into science to truly create an outer body experience for his listeners. Check out Opium Denn’s concept album, Demarkation, below.
