Music & Other Drugs would like to welcome you the rising star Lontalius from New Zealand. He is the teenager behind all the internet’s best rap covers. His real name Eddie Johnston is a talented introvert who has befriended pop star Lorde from twitter and has been covering songs because he finds the internet so fascinating. He has covered songs by artist like Ciara, Drake, Young Thug, FKA Twigs and Frank Ocean. His covers have also turned into his own original songs, which consist of lo-fi r&b songs that lightly touch your soul with his melancholic vocals and guitar driven bedroom rock. He told The Fader in a recent interview about his music and stated:
“”I love sad songs, and I don’t know why. I’m not sad. I just love that 3AM, kind of sad, kind of happy, listening-to-Drake sort of feeling. That’s my favorite feeling in the world.”
He has been endorsed by one of the internets favorite acts, Spooky Black and now he is ready to turn his covers into his own music. He has released his first visual for his debut track, “All I Wanna Say” and we are loving this one. The song and video could be suggestive to Lontalius sexuality and has the lyrical verge of Sam Smith and Frank Ocean. The focus here is his music at the end of the day and we are loving what Lontalius is bringing and can’t wait to hear more. Check out his sentimental visual below.
