Janelle Monae is not playing any games with her new music. Surprising fans, Janelle dropped two new songs and videos to accompany them. She also shared details about her new album Dirty Computer. The album is set to be released on April 27th and we can not wait to get our hands on it. The visuals are serving up all kinds of looks and gives us a taste of what is to come with this new Janelle Monae era. The two tracks titled, “Make Me Feel” and “Django Jane” are totally two different perspectives. Alan Ferguson directed the “Make Me Feel” clip and Andrew Donoho, Chuck Lighting and Lacey Duke co-directed “Django Jane.” Solange’s husband, Alan Ferguson directed the “Make Me Feel” clip and Andrew Donoho, Chuck Lighting and Lacey Duke co-directed “Django Jane.”
With “Make Me Feel,” Monáe unleashes her inner Prince with lush electric guitars snappy percussion, and electrifying synths. The song is colorful and bright just liek the visual which features actress Tessa Thompson. The nostalgic track is a dance floor ready gem and we are loving everything she is brining to the table with this one.
On “Django Jane,” Monáe embraces a heavier hip-hop sound and proves she got bars for days over a entrancing piano loop. The video is straight Black Girl Magic and full of lines fit for a queen just like Janelle herself. Again, she shows so much versatility and growth in this track and proves that black women are unstoppable and fearless.
