“When it’s time to ride it’s all hands on deck. When we get going there ain’t no stopping.”
Chicago’s very own, Jarred A.G. is back with his brand new single “Hyperspace.” The song serves as the first single for his debut project Midnight on Western. As soon as you press play, the Jordan Lumley produced track begins to transport you to another place. Around the :18 mark, the base line thumps, and at that very moment, we are taken on a ride we don’t want to get off of.
Jarred A.G.’s melodic track “Hyperspace,” showcases his lyrical prowess, as he effortlessly flows over the Lumley-produced track. Although the track has a chill vibe, lyrically, the track has a deeper meaning. Jarred A.G. told The Fader “I was writing with this feeling of escape.”
“Hyperspace” is the perfect introduction to Jarred A.G.’s upcoming project, Midnight on Western. Jarred talked about the process of creating and the project and said:
“The EP is meant to capture a moment of uncertainty, the push and pull between different worlds. For me, growing up Puerto Rican in the US feels like occupying two places at once, both colonizer and colonized, insider and outsider. This dissonance is boiled down into a snapshot of time on the EP. I wrote it to cover the course of a day, as I try to grapple with identity and difference between who I am and who I want to be, knowing that every choice come with a price.”
