For 24 years, Essence has hosted Essence Fest, a celebration of music, fashion, literature, culture, all things that celebrate blackness, and women. With the release of the 2017 smash Girl’s Trip, we knew Essence Fest would see a surge of attendees, but not like this. We attended Essence Festival for the past two years, but this year’s festival saw even more women on their own girl’s trip, and an emerging demographic, millennials. Essence Fest 2018 billed many up-and-coming acts. It felt like a passing of the baton of the legends to the new rising talents. Earlier this year, the massive lineup was released, featuring Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu & Jill Scott backed by The Roots as the headliners of the 3-day event. For this year’s festival, we brought along our Kodak Mini Shot and the Canon 80D. The Kodak Mini Shot allowed us to print our high-resolution images straight from the Mini Shot app to the Kodak Mini Shot camera. We captured some of the show on the Mini Shot camera, which proved to have a great quality with a good light source. Check out our photos from this past weekends star-studded 3-day event.
