Last night, Music and Other Drugs got to vibe out to NYC duo Denitia and Sene. The duo was celebrating the release of their brand new album, love and noir.
Opening up the night was Moroccan singer, Abir. Music and Other Drugs first caught glimpse of Abir when she opened up for singer Elhae. Abir sang a new cut, her single, “Girl,” and an impressive cover of Kanye West’s “Ultralight Beam,” intertwined with Frank Ocean’s “Godspeed.” Abir contained so much control in her voice, and brought along a kick ass band with her.
Around 11:00pm, Denitia and Sene. took the stage. The duo infuses many genres into their music, and is all comes to life in their live performance. Denitia and Sene’s vocals lay on top of each other with such ease, and the audience was entranced in the duo’s music. The synergy between the duo was infectious. Denitia and Sene stopped in between songs and conversed with one another, that made us feel as if we were in the studio with the pair. From cracking jokes, to starting one of their new tracks “strung” over until they got it “right,” which added personality and fun to the show. One of our favorite moments of the night was when the duo sang their single from love and noir. “open wide.”
Their 12-track album is complete from top to bottom. Denitia and Sene took time with this album, and the content, productions, and overall sounds make this album one of our favorite releases of the year. Check out love and noir. below.
